Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add different Types of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Cold Email Marketing Tips
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important facets of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors collectively according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Cold Email Marketing Tips
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your mails compared to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means you can get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Cold Email Marketing Tips
The cost of MailerLite is among the tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it is still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half the Price of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
