MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added choices, most of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add distinct Types of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Do\’S And Don Ts Of Email Marketing
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically added or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as name, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much to the form Stuff here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Do\’S And Don Ts Of Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your subscribers interacted with your emails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Do\’S And Don Ts Of Email Marketing
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Do\’S And Don Ts Of Email Marketing
