Intro Email Marketing Companies
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Email Marketing Companies
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the last ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, what’s more, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and also the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Types of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or segments.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Companies
Handling Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers together based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own fields, such as name, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Companies
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the kind style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific reporting for this effort.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Companies
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it’s still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half the Price of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options available on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in recent decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
