Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you are a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Freelance Rates
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular areas, such as title, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Freelance Rates
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To envision your own backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but once you’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can find an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Freelance Rates
The cost of MailerLite is among the tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it’s still an wonderful alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get an even better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
