Intro Email Marketing Freelancer
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Email Marketing Freelancer
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time users to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it is a new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to add different Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Freelancer
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Rules, in addition to another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Freelancer
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most of us, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on cellular by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth choice, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, such as moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much quicker than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you will likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Email Marketing Freelancer
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half the Cost of the competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Email Marketing Freelancer
