Background Email Marketing Lists
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Email Marketing Lists
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses today, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it really stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of this acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include different Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you can select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Lists
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You are looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically added or eliminated accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as name, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Email Marketing Lists
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, including adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your subscribers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available data more than enough to meet their needs.
What’s email marketing without a dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, like moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Lists
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt among those tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of the competition generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options on the industry. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
