Intro Email Marketing Stats
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Email Marketing Stats
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email marketing has been Dominated by the same large players for the previous ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Business, address, business size, list size and even the kind of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your classes or segments.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Email Marketing Stats
Managing Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular areas, such as title, company, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or may easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you are able to pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Email Marketing Stats
If you are not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example most people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all ultimately do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to show it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the form style, subjects, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your backup in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check the way your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, such as transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, so you can find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Subscribers interact with the pages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Email Marketing Stats
The cost of MailerLite is among the tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half of the Price of the competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the market. Plus, if you’re willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in recent years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
