Background Emma Email Marketing Reviews
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Emma Email Marketing Reviews
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this review, I will be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out if it stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the change.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you’re a good match for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t be able to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you can select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Emma Email Marketing Reviews
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here is what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a minute — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together based on a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here because I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from new Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on stage. Emma Email Marketing Reviews
If you are not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it does offer a great base to work from if, like the majority of us, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see precisely how your readers interacted with your mails in relation to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, although I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, such as moving a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is really much faster than what I am utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also that I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your website.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Emma Email Marketing Reviews
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Emma Email Marketing Reviews
