Intro Expert Email Marketing
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Expert Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses today, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the same big players for the last ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and achieve a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not have the ability to send anything until approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, together with the choice of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Types of articles to your email, including videos, product columns, and social connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your classes or segments.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Expert Email Marketing
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most essential aspects of any email advertising program now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or removed so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Principles, as well as another rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a moment — and they don’t have any value aside from what you call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, company, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the form Stuff here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Expert Email Marketing
If you are not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a great base to work from if, like the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really Provides a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on cellular by switching the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your emails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available data more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much quicker than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Expert Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of the competition generally, MailerLite is by far one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you’re ready to pay annually, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the very few email advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in recent years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
