MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the last decade. Which means they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, list size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to that domain in order that they could email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you’re a good fit for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)

That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t open your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your groups or segments.
The tab also allows one To develop segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.

Handling Your Clients

When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also blend Rules, in addition to another rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we’ll get to in a minute — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple subscribers together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Stuff here since I have an entire section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to understand this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Light Mail
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to show it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation process is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form kind.

That is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see how your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.

Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available data more than sufficient to meet their needs.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s really much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.

For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at around half the Price of the competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you are ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the few email advertising tools The (very crowded) industry in recent years, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
