Introduction Mail Showbiz
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Mail Showbiz
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email advertising has been Dominated by the same big players for the previous decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time customers to question their loyalties.

Like most email marketing providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Business, address, company size, list size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before approved.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few added options, most of these will follow Exactly the same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Types of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you can select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mail Showbiz
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most important facets of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially principles.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in title, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mail Showbiz
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen so far, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you will be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, like most people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To visualize your copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this installation Procedure is identical, you will find A few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see exactly how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will find the available data more than enough to meet their demands.
What’s email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can’t be said for every email advertising software.
After setting your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you will be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so it’s possible to get an concept of what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Mail Showbiz
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half the Price of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the cheapest options on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even better discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mail Showbiz
