Like most email marketing providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Site, and ascertain whether you are a fantastic match for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to make campaigns and play with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these measures are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a standard effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and select from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailer Lite Import
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most essential facets of any email advertising software now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your subscribers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as title, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I won’t go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Direction and personalization features on point. Mailer Lite Import
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like most people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let us start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, such as adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup forms.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
For example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their demands.
What is email advertising with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks a number of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the review.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email address will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, which means you can find an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it is actually much faster than what I am used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and that I think it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with the webpages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Mailer Lite Import
The Price of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far among the least expensive options on the industry. Plus, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailer Lite Import
