Intro Mailerlite Autoresponder
When I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what could you say? Mailerlite Autoresponder
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries now, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical big players for the last ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed those Measures, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the features, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
But while these steps are not ideal for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step process of a standard campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the blocks in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and societal links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your groups or sections.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Autoresponder
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You are searching to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Principles, in addition to an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Unlike Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple subscribers collectively according to a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Autoresponder
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the identical job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent pair of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover here.
Let us begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the kind style, fields, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which Provides you a chance To visualize your backup in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can assess the way your form displays on mobile by shifting the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can play the styling options to get it Matched up with your branding.
Last, you can Select the near Behavior of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
That is where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average consumer…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their demands.
What’s email marketing with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this particular review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that activate new automation workflows. It is just much less effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation block, so you can get an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s really much quicker than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in performance.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with the pages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Autoresponder
The Price of MailerLite is no doubt one of the tools biggest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this plan, it’s still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It ends up, at approximately half the Price of this competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you are ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the few email advertising tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
