Intro Mailerlite Lt
If I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Lt
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries today, email advertising has been Dominated by the same big players for the last decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and achieve a great deal of mindshare.

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Industry, address, company size, list size and also the kind of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is related to this domain in order that they could email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you’re a fantastic match for their services.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and play with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But if it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the choice of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a standard effort.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a favorite editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your classes or segments.
The tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get into the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Lt
Managing Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You are looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and will be automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Rules, as well as an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or through an Automation rule — that we’ll get into in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers together based on a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their own areas, such as title, company, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I won’t go too much into the shape Things here since I have an entire section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Lt
If you are not impressed with what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, like the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite really offers a Decent set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the kind style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form functions, including adding extra fields and setting a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form displays on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup process is identical, you will find A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use with this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, as before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Last, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is simple, clean and easy to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding measures to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a conditional split, or an act, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.. )
For example, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means you can find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is actually much faster than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting just isn’t accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Lt
The cost of MailerLite is one of those tools biggest Selling points, and let’s face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your mails using this program, it is still an amazing alternative for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Price of the competition on average, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options available on the market. Plus, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few email marketing tools The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of years, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Mailerlite Lt
