Intro Mailerlite Market Share
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Market Share
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online businesses now, email marketing continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the previous decade. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, inducing long-time customers to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to see if it really stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, website, Industry, address, company size, record size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain ).
This remains part of the approval process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Website, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But whether it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to readers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step process of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor .
In the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes customizing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your classes or segments.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Market Share
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most important aspects of any email marketing software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re looking to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and are automatically inserted or eliminated so.
Here’s what establishing a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for groups, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get into in a moment — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re uncertain:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers together with Your custom field data in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wanted to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Customized field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important to know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Market Share
If you are not impressed by what you have seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the identical task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is better than some dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Adequate set of form building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a whole lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on particular pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To envision your own copy in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind also prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the setup process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do offer a good base to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me to a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific coverage for this campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your mails compared to one another.
Reports for automations are also Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this particular review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, adding a Postpone, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a subscriber or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For example, there’s now no automation for moving Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just not as effective…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so you can find an idea about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s one Kind of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Market Share
The Price of MailerLite is among the tools largest Selling things, and let us face it, most of us love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get as many as 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it’s still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of this competition on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options on the industry. Additionally, if you are willing to pay annually, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among the email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) industry in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
