Introduction Mailerlite Notifications
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Notifications
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online businesses today, email advertising continues to be Dominated by the identical large players for the last ten years. Which means that they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So today, in this short article, I’ll be tearing MailerLite from limb To limb to see whether it really stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information such as your organization name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and ascertain whether you’re a good match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, do not worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from name and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, most of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step process of a normal campaign.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Select a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll select the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, including videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To develop segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Notifications
Managing Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your readers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, above all, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” subscribers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified rules, and will be automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also blend Principles, in addition to another rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite delivers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate activity on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors together according to a frequent denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can easily add these fields to your types which will only apply to future subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I won’t go too much into the form Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field information from new Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scratching the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s reasonable to say MailerLite has their contributor Management and personalization features on stage. Mailerlite Notifications
If you are not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, like most people, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They all ultimately do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further construct or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than some dedicated solutions *Infection * WPBakery.
Along with the basic building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It will not be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the form style, subjects, background, title, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, such as adding additional fields and setting a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, That will replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an Summary of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this setup process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me to a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools such as Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your branding.
Finally, you can choose the near Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you specific coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into individual areas of the report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, although I found these to be less enlightening than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email advertising software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, such as transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks a number of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these actions can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It’s just not as effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your subject line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Ultimately, your email address will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, which means you can find an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, you’ll probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one Kind of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and that I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or measure ) based on the way Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Mailerlite Notifications
The Price of MailerLite is among the tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the premium programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of the rivalry on average, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options available on the market. Plus, if you’re ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, and that’s no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
