Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Industry, address, business size, record size and even the type of material you plan to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Site (or domain name).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed these Steps, you ought to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, assess your Site, and determine whether you are a good fit for their service.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and play with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these measures aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more immediate email.
That is where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll select the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, simply click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Video Tutorials
Handling Your Subscribers
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized campaigns are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your conversions.
And while many providers allow you to”label” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dashboard, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, in addition to an alternate rule if the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your normal”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or through an Automation rule — which we’ll get into in a moment — and they have no value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite delivers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors together according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as title, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field information in separate columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Things here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important to understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Video Tutorials
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, for example the majority of us, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual page builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero sections, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email marketing tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer lets you To personalize everything in the kind style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there is more to some form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure how the Form works, such as adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but like I said before, you may also create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Considering paid programs such as Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to observe this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms would render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Data in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and kind signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special coverage for that effort.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading environment, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also shows a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your readers interacted with your emails in relation to another.
Reports for automations are Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and most will find the available statistics more than enough to meet their needs.
What is email advertising with no dash of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures can be anything from sending an email, including a Postpone, a conditional split, or an action, like transferring a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something such as ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for moving Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various classes that activate new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another matter of efficacy here is when generating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to add your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the typical campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but once you’ve established your email, clicking the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your own automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation cube, so you can get an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m used to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find this a downgrade in performance.
It’s quick enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there is one type of automation You will not find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Subscribers interact with all the pages on your website.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only is not available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Video Tutorials
The cost of MailerLite is among those tools biggest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at approximately half the Cost of this competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the cheapest options available on the industry. Plus, if you’re ready to pay yearly, you can also get a much better discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those few advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it works exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and all at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
