Intro Mailerlite Welcome Email
When I asked you to name an email Marketing instrument, what would you say? Mailerlite Welcome Email
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like many online industries now, email advertising has been Dominated by the same large players for the previous ten years. Which means that they get encouraged very deeply and accomplish a lot of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the market, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done precisely that.
So now, in this short article, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it stands its ground against the big boys…
…and, more importantly, whether youshould consider making the switch.

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information such as your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and also the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to confirm your Website (or domain ).
This is still part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to this domain so they can email you a confirmation link.
Once you’ve completed these Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you are a good match for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to use the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email marketing.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Do not open your broadcast email, together with the option of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS campaign: Create a recurring campaign That sends new content to readers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow Exactly the exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can change to the Templates tab and select from among their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super contemporary.
And, of course, if you would just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the blocks in the sidebar to add different Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to select your classes or sections.
The advanced tab also allows you To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control when your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Mailerlite Welcome Email
Handling Your Subscribers
Having granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers allow you to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically rules.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified rules, and will be automatically inserted or removed so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can also combine Principles, as well as an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The following tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — that we will get to in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments permit you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. In any case, they’re optional.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this region with their particular fields, such as name, business, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your readers along with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Stuff here since I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve gathered your custom field data from fresh Readers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and choose your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you know that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Mailerlite Welcome Email
If you are not impressed by what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After selecting’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Isn’t winning any awards, but it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that pure eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, however They all finally do the same job; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or change your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is already better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of form building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there is a lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then put on your site to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To personalize everything in the kind style, subjects, background, name, input fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which Provides you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to some form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That can replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but surely not least, you Can check the way your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t be able to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of this installation Procedure is identical, there are A few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a good foundation to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the near Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special coverage for that campaign.
This is where you’ll find a few more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
For example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see how your subscribers interacted to one another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will find the available data more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising with no dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You will instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing software.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, such as transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations like this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when generating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to put in your topic line which appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be temporarily Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back to the automations workflow instead of the usual sending alternatives.
Finally, your email will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means it’s possible to get an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much quicker than what I am used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you’ve come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this segment, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Mailerlite Welcome Email
The cost of MailerLite is no doubt one of those tools largest Selling things, and let’s face it, most of us love a good deal.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While there is some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it’s still an amazing option for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It ends up, at approximately half of the Cost of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly among the least expensive options on the industry. Plus, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of those few email marketing tools The (very crowded) sector in recent decades, which is no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking of giving it a spin? Let us know how it works for you From the remarks. Mailerlite Welcome Email
