MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email advertising providers Nowadays, You’ll Need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, site, Industry, address, business size, list size and also the type of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Website (or domain name).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to this domain in order that they can email you a verification link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a fantastic match for their services.
(Quite simply, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to make campaigns and perform with the features, but you will not have the ability to send anything before approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help prevent malicious users from damaging everybody’s deliverability.
If you are anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Produce Campaign’ will give you several choices.
– Regular campaign: A Conventional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Create a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Apart from a few additional choices, the Majority of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
As Soon as You click on to create your effort, you’ll be asked to Pick a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can switch to the Templates tab and select from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you into the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to choose From which is somewhat on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I’ll choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add distinct Types of articles to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social links.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your classes or sections.
The tab also allows you To build segment-like rules , in case your targeting isn’t quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Open Rate Mailerlite
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing program now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different strategy.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a segment only when they meet the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can even blend Principles, as well as an alternate rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and despite the difference in name, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they have no value besides what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are generally used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple contributors collectively based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I believe it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they’re optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own areas, such as name, business, and nation.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do this by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or may simply add these fields to your forms which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added into a form:
I will not go too much into the form Stuff here since I have a whole section on that below, but this is the approach I would recommend if you wished to use this attribute.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field information from new Subscribers, you are able to pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it’s fair to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on stage. Open Rate Mailerlite
If you’re not impressed with what you have seen up to Now, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Isn’t winning any awards, it will offer a fantastic base to work from if, for example the majority people, you do not have that natural eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *cough* WPBakery.
Along with the fundamental building blocks, you can use components like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all 3 form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually Provides a Adequate set of type building tools.
Also, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this same interface, so there’s a lot to cover here.
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super fundamental, the form designer allows you To customize everything from the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, of course, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a chance To visualize your backup in real time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there is more to a form than just its physical appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance alternative. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, Which can replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but surely not least, you Can assess how your form screens on cellular by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t be able to make any layout changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the installation Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive choice, they do offer a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as easy to use for this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types Now around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it’s pretty impressive to see this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can perform with the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the near Behavior of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have both.
This is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click data, Subscriber development, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific reporting for that effort.
This is where you’ll find some statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into individual areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also shows a click map, so You can see how your readers interacted with your mails compared to another.
Reports for automations will also be Available under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than sufficient to fulfill their needs.
What’s email advertising without a dash of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you’ve ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can’t be said for each and every email marketing program.
After establishing your trigger, you can begin adding measures to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, such as moving a contributor or updating their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed when they don’t open my email within 7 days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into a different automation.
That being said, the Majority of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new mails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your topic line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the review.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve created your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you straight back to the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so it’s possible to get an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email advertising tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you’ll likely find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think that it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or measure ) based on how Readers interact with all the webpages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only isn’t accessible MailerLite at this time, so if it’s something you use or intend to utilize, you might want to skip this one. Open Rate Mailerlite
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic deal.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your mails using this program, it is still an amazing option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It turns out, at around half of the Price of this rivalry generally, MailerLite is by far one of the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you’re willing to pay yearly, you can also get an even greater discount.
In Reality, I have not been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few advertising tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of years, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
