If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Opt In Email Marketing
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to correctly use the software.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, business size, record size and even the type of material you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of this approval process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is related to this domain so they can email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed these Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, assess your Website, and determine whether you’re a good fit for their service.
(In other words, they are making sure you’re not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to use the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you won’t have the ability to send anything before accepted.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
But while these steps aren’t perfect for getting started, it Does help stop unscrupulous users from hurting everyone else’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to Deal with The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations shortly, don’t worry.)
But whether it’s a brand new blog article, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several choices.
– Regular effort: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Variations, such as subject line, from name and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not open your broadcast email, with the option of changing the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, most of these will follow The same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let us walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Select a favorite editor, whether that be the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from among the pre-designed email templates — which will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the layouts are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of content to your email, including videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, just click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be taken to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in the event your targeting is not quite perfect.
Finally, before sending, you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that is instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Opt In Email Marketing
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably one of The most important aspects of any email advertising software today.
Because highly personalized efforts are necessary if You’re searching to increase clicks, opens, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while many providers Permit You to”tag” subscribers in order To target them more effectively, MailerLite utilizes a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll see two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are basically principles.
Your subscribers belong to a segment only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or eliminated so.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, as well as another rule when the first does not exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and also the difference in name, These behave much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it.)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a minute — and they have no value aside from what you call them.
As you Begin to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are typically used, but MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Basically, groups are more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber basis, whereas Segments allow you to lump multiple subscribers collectively based on a common denominator.
A tad confusing, I will admit… but I feel it’s a fair trade-off For the added flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Finally, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their own fields, such as name, business, and nation.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they really work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers together with Your custom field information in distinct columns… or can simply add these fields to your types which will only apply to prospective subscribers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the shape Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I would recommend if you wanted to use this feature.
Again, as Soon as You’ve collected your custom field data from fresh Subscribers, you can pull them into your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Customized field.
I’m barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it is important that you understand this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it’s fair to say MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on stage. Opt In Email Marketing
If you’re not impressed by what you’ve seen so far, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template choice Is not winning any awards, it will offer a great foundation to work from if, for example most of us, you do not have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and chosen the’Lead Generation’ template, though They ultimately do the same task; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will Provide you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and it is better than some dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the basic building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
It won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or LeadPagesanytime soon, but credit where credit due, this thing over-delivers on all three kind types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then put on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer allows you To personalize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text can also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than simply its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There is even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success webpage…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded kind and prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes here, but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that is an overview of this Embedded form but as I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of this setup Procedure is identical, you will find Still a few differences I’d like to point out.
Unlike embedded kinds, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do offer a fantastic base to work from and the editor is just as simple to use for this form kind.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new choices under form types This time around:
Considering paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to observe this level of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can choose the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is really where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has one more trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation stats, and kind signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you specific coverage for this effort.
This is where you’ll find a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, studying surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the average user…
…but in Case You really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of this report for a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems beneath These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Email’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see exactly how your subscribers interacted with your mails in relation to another.
Reports for automations will also be Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and many will get the available statistics more than enough to meet their demands.
What is email marketing without a dashboard of automation?
For many reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The great news? If you have ever used a visual workflow builder, then You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, The automations interface is easy, clean and simple to navigate — something that certainly can not be said for every email advertising program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps can be anything from sending an email, including a Delay, a bubble break, or an action, like moving a subscriber or upgrading their records.
Here’s a simple workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed if they don’t open my email within seven days.
There are innumerable Possibilities when it comes to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite ought to have no trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it is not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.. )
For Instance, there’s now no automation for transferring Readers directly into a different automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that trigger new automation workflows. It’s simply much less effective…. yet.
Another matter of efficiency here is when creating new mails From the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email block to The workflow, you will be asked to add your topic line which then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, but as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow instead of the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email within your automation cube, which means you can find an idea about what it contains at a glance.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it is really much faster than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a great example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something such as ConvertKit where The editor is loaded within the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, however I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is one type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to trigger an automation (or step) based on the way Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting only is not accessible MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to utilize, you may want to skip this one. Opt In Email Marketing
The cost of MailerLite is undoubtedly among those tools biggest Selling points, and let us face it, we all love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this program, it is still an wonderful option for anyone starting out.
And what about the premium plans?
It ends up, at around half the Cost of the competition generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options available on the industry. Additionally, if you are willing to pay yearly, you are also able to get a much greater discount.
In fact, I haven’t been able to find anything that does exactly the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those email marketing tools to disrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no simple feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the perfect balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and all at a price point you will seriously struggle to beat.
