Intro Tripolis Solutions
If I asked you to name an email Marketing tool, what would you say? Tripolis Solutions
MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?
Like most online industries now, email advertising has been Dominated by the identical big players for the previous decade. Which means they get promoted very heavily and accomplish a great deal of mindshare.
Now and then, however, an Underdog disrupts the marketplace, causing long-time users to question their loyalties.
MailerLite has done exactly that.
So now, in this review, I’ll be ripping MailerLite from limb To limb to find out whether it really stands its own ground against the big boys…

Like most email advertising providers these days, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the program.
When you first register, you’ll be asked to complete your profile.
This includes information like your organization name, site, Business, address, company size, list size and even the kind of content you intend to send.
Then, you need to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply inquire which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a confirmation link.
As Soon as You’ve completed those Measures, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite staff will review your application, check your Website, and ascertain whether you’re a fantastic fit for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As shown above, you’ll still be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything before accepted.
I had been”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limit of 500 subscribers.
Here’s what the email said:
However, while these steps aren’t ideal for getting started, it Does help prevent unscrupulous users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely upon automations to Deal with Nearly all your email advertising.
(We’ll get to automations soon, do not worry.)
But if it is a new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there is always some excuse to send a more instant email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the brand new’Create Campaign’ will give you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split campaign: Multiple email Versions, such as subject line, from title and, yes, even content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to subscribers who Do not start your broadcast email, with the choice of altering the subject line and email content.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends new content to subscribers using your website’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few additional options, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal effort.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your campaign, you’ll be asked to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
Otherwise, you can switch to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor .
At the time of writing, you’ll find 21 email templates to select From which is somewhat on the low side, however, the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you would just Prefer to reuse a previous email, you can click on the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this example, I’ll choose the first template in the library.
The editor is easy to work with, Making viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also utilize the cubes in the sidebar to add different Kinds of content to your email, such as videos, merchandise columns, and social connections.
After making your changes, just click’Done Editing’ and you will Be carried to the recipients’ choices where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The advanced tab also allows one To build segment-like rules on-the-fly, in case your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, you’ll get to the’Schedule’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, whether that is immediately, at a set time/date, or according to your subscribers time zones.
Impressive, right? Tripolis Solutions
Managing Your Clients
Possessing granular control over your subscribers is arguably among The most essential facets of any email marketing software now.
Because highly personalized efforts Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, most importantly, your own conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”label” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you open up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Choices; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here is what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice how you can also combine Rules, as well as an alternate rule when the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for classes, and despite the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the name to’Tags’, but ultimately decided against it)
Unlike Segments, Groups are upgraded manually or via an Automation principle — which we’ll get to in a moment — and they don’t have any value aside from what you actually call them.
As you start to use this platform, you’ll begin to understand Where Segments and Groups are typically used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in case you’re uncertain:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments allow you to bulge multiple contributors together based on a common denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I’ll admit… but I feel it is a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are discretionary.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to personalize your email copy.
You will notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, business, and country.
If You Would like to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV file of your readers along with Your custom field data in separate columns… or may simply add these fields to a types which will only apply to prospective readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test area I created and added to a form:
I will not go too much to the form Things here because I have an entire section on this below, but this is the strategy I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I am barely scraping the surface Of what’s possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you know that this is a feature you may use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Management and personalization features on point. Tripolis Solutions
If you’re not impressed by what you have seen so far, then maybe The webpage builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ from the forms page, then you’ll be Able to pick from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a great base to work from if, for example the majority people, you don’t have that natural eye for layout.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, however They finally do the same task; collect an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further construct or change your landing page.
Now, I have used my fair share of Visual site builders, and this is already better than a few dedicated solutions *cough* WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, testimonials and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders such as Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite really Provides a Decent pair of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there’s a lot to cover .
Let’s start with your Bog-standard embedded form.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite so as to get An embed code, which you can then place on your website to display it on specific pages.
Despite starting off super basic, the form designer allows you To customize everything in the form style, subjects, background, name, enter fields and, clearly, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own copy in real time.
It would have been nice to have Some templates here, but as you know, there’s more to some form than simply its appearance.
Clicking on the’Settings’ tab will allow you to configure how the Form works, including adding extra fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And talking of the success page…
…MailerLite also lets you customize the default message, Which will replace the embedded form also prevents users .
Last but certainly not least, you Can assess the way your form screens on cellular by shifting the toggle to responsive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any design changes , but it makes Sense to check, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of the Embedded form but as I said before, you can even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the Vast Majority of the installation process is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most In depth selection, they do provide a good base to work from and the editor is just as easy to use with this form type.
Clicking on the’E-commerce’ template takes me into a preview Before moving into the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are some new options under form types This time around:
Contemplating paid programs like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup forms.
And, as before, you can perform the styling options to get it Matched up with your own branding.
Last, you can choose the close Behaviour of your type under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is the X icon, but you can swap out this for A”No thanks” text option, or have .
This is where most email Marketing platforms will leave you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like many tools, you’ll find a summary of your campaign Statistics in the dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from effort open and click info, Subscriber development, automation stats, and form signups.
Clicking into any campaign will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover some more advanced statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary user…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, you can click into different areas of the report for a more comprehensive breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so You can see your readers interacted to another.
Reports for automations are Available under the’Automations’ tab, even although I found these to be less enlightening than campaign reports.
Here’s a quick example:
Total, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting interface, and many will find the available statistics more than enough to fulfill their needs.
What is email advertising without a dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could easily make or break this review.
The good news? If you’ve used a visual workflow builder, You’ll instantly feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email marketing program.
After setting your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These measures could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, like transferring a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I set together, where subscribers Are unsubscribed if they do not open my email within 7 days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should not have any trouble with the huge majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign because it lacks some of the conditional components. (Split, Go To, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Readers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these activities can still be achieved by moving Subscribers into various groups that trigger new automation workflows. It is just not as efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficiency here is when creating new emails In the automation workflow builder.
After adding an email cube to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking on the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Editor:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered earlier in the critique.
This time, however, once you’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will direct you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending alternatives.
Ultimately, your email will probably be Loaded into your automation.
A nice touch here is using a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, which means you can find an concept about what it contains at a glimpse.
While this procedure may seem like A grind on newspaper, it’s actually much faster than what I’m utilized to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, you will probably find that this downgrade in functionality.
It is fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it’s all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there is 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, and I think that it’s important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with all the pages on your site.
This kind of behavioral targeting just isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or plan to use, you might want to skip this one. Tripolis Solutions
The Price of MailerLite is undoubtedly one of those tools largest Selling points, and let us face it, most of us love a fantastic bargain.
For starters, they offer an unlimited free plan that includes All features (including premium) for up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding on your emails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top programs?
It turns out, at around half of the Cost of the rivalry generally, MailerLite is undoubtedly one of the least expensive options on the industry. Additionally, if you are ready to pay annually, you can also get a much better discount.
In Reality, I haven’t been able to locate anything that does the same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is one of the email marketing tools to interrupt The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, and that’s no easy feat.
While it is not as fast as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at just about anything you can throw at it.
All in all, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, simplicity and speed, and at a price point you will seriously struggle to conquer.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you From the comments. Tripolis Solutions
