MailChimp? Aweber? ActiveCampaign?

Like most email marketing providers Nowadays, you will need to Go through a review process before being able to properly use the software.
When you first sign up, you’ll be asked to finish your profile.
This includes information like your company name, website, Business, address, company size, record size and also the kind of content you plan to send.
Then, You Have to verify your Site (or domain name).
This remains part of the acceptance process, and MailerLite will Simply ask which email is associated to that domain so they could email you a verification link.
Once you’ve completed those Steps, you’ll need to wait it out.
The MailerLite team will review your application, check your Site, and determine whether you are a fantastic fit for their service.
(In other words, they’re making sure you are not a spammer/scammer)
As revealed above, you’ll nevertheless be Able to utilize the software to create campaigns and perform with the attributes, but you will not be able to send anything until approved.
I was”partially” approved within a few hours, which gave me a Temporary limitation of 500 subscribers.
Here Is What the email said:
However, while these steps are not perfect for getting started, it Does help stop malicious users from hurting everybody’s deliverability.
If you’re anything like me, you’ll rely on automations to handle The majority of your email marketing.
(We will get to automations soon, don’t worry.)
But if it is a brand new blog post, podcast, or timely Announcement, there’s always a reason to send a more immediate email.
That’s where’Campaigns’ come in.
Clicking the new’Create Campaign’ will provide you several options.
– Regular campaign: A traditional broadcast email.
– A/B split effort: Multiple email Versions, including subject line, from title and, yes, even email content. (Woop!)
– Auto resend: Resend to readers who Don’t start your broadcast email, together with the option of changing the subject line and email articles.
– RSS effort: Produce a recurring campaign That sends fresh content to subscribers using your site’s RSS feed.
Aside from a few added choices, the Majority of these will follow The exact same step-by-step procedure of a normal campaign.
So let’s walk you through it.
Once you click to create your effort, you’ll be requested to Pick a preferred editor, whether that’s the dragn’ drop, rich text or HTML.
You can change to the Templates tab and choose from one of their pre-designed email templates — that will move you to the dragn’ drop editor by default.
In the time of writing, there are 21 email templates to select From which is a little on the low side, but the designs are super modern.
And, of course, if you’d just Like to reuse a previous email, you can click the’Recent Emails’ tab.
For this instance, I will choose the first template from the library.
The editor is easy to use, Which makes viewing these templates a 5-minute job.
You can also use the cubes in the sidebar to include distinct Kinds of articles to your email, such as videos, product columns, and societal connections.
After making your adjustments, simply click’Done Editing’ and you’ll Be carried to the recipients’ options where you are able to choose your groups or sections.
The tab also allows one To build segment-like rules , in the event your targeting isn’t quite right.
Finally, right before sending, then you’ll get to the’Program’ screen.
This is where you control if your broadcast email should go Out, if that’s instantly, at a set time/date, or in accordance with your readers time zones.
Impressive, right? Yourzine
Handling Your Clients
Having granular control over your readers is arguably among The most essential aspects of any email advertising program today.
Because highly personalized campaigns Are Essential if You’re looking to increase opens, clicks, and, above all, your conversions.
And while most providers Permit You to”tag” readers in order To target them effectively, MailerLite uses a slightly different approach.
When you start up your subscriber dash, you’ll notice two Options; Segments and Groups.
Segments are essentially rules.
Your readers belong to a section only when they fulfill the Specified principles, and are automatically added or removed accordingly.
Here’s what setting up a rule looks like:
Notice the way you can even blend Principles, in addition to an alternate rule if the first doesn’t exist.
Pretty smart, eh?
The next tab is for groups, and also the difference in title, These act much like your usual”tagging” system.
(MailerLite even debated Changing the title to’Tags’, but finally decided against it)
Contrary to Segments, Groups are updated manually or via an Automation principle — which we will get into in a minute — and they don’t have any value besides what you actually call them.
As you start to use this stage, you’ll Start to understand At which Segments and Groups are generally used, however, MailerLite offers a hand in the event you’re unsure:
Fundamentally, groups are much more of a Deliberate action on a per-subscriber foundation, whereas Segments permit you to bulge multiple subscribers collectively according to a frequent denominator.
Somewhat confusing, I will admit… but I believe it’s a fair trade-off For the additional flexibility. Besides, they are optional.
Last, the’Fields’ tab is used to customize your email copy.
You’ll notice that MailerLite has Already populated this area with their particular fields, such as title, company, and country.
If you want to create your own custom fields, you can do so by Clicking on the’Add new field’ button.
So how do they actually work?
You can either upload a CSV record of your subscribers along with Your custom field data in distinct columns… or can easily add these fields to a forms which will only apply to future readers.
Here’s a screenshot of a test field I made and added to a form:
I will not go too much into the shape Stuff here because I have a whole section on this below, but this is the approach I’d recommend if you wished to use this feature.
Again, once you’ve collected your custom field information from fresh Readers, you can pull them in to your email content and subject line.
Just click on the’Personalization’ drop down and select your Custom field.
I’m barely scratching the surface Of what is possible with custom fields, but it’s important that you understand that this is a feature you can use.
Overall, it is reasonable to state MailerLite has their subscriber Direction and personalization features on point. Yourzine
If you’re not impressed with what you’ve seen up to Now, then perhaps The page builder will tickle your fancy.
After choosing’Landing Pages’ in the forms page, then you’ll be Able to select from 8 pre-designed templates.
Again, while the template selection Is not winning any awards, it does offer a fantastic foundation to work from if, like the majority people, you don’t have that pure eye for design.
I went ahead and selected the’Lead Generation’ template, though They finally do the same job; accumulate an email address.
This time, the editor will give you 17 building blocks to Further build or alter your landing page.
Now, I’ve used my fair share of Visual page builders, and it is better than a few dedicated alternatives *Infection * WPBakery.
Together with the fundamental building blocks, you can use elements like Hero segments, popup buttons, reviews and countdown timers.
No, it won’t be replacing landing Page builders like Thrive Architect or even LeadPagesanytime shortly, but credit where credit due, this item over-delivers on all three form types.
Form Builder Tool
Unlike some email advertising tools, MailerLite actually offers a Decent set of type building tools.
Not only that, but you can also create popups and landing pages Through this exact same interface, so there is a whole lot to cover here.
Let’s begin with your Bog-standard embedded type.
These forms are first created inside MailerLite in order to get An embed code, which you can then place on your site to show it on particular pages.
Despite beginning super basic, the form designer lets you To customize everything from the form style, fields, background, title, input fields and, of course, the button.
Form text may also be edited directly, which gives you a Opportunity To envision your own backup in real-time.
It would’ve been nice to have Some templates, but as you know, there’s more to a form than just its appearance.
Clicking the’Settings’ tab will Make It Possible for you to configure the way the Form functions, including adding additional fields and establishing a custom success page.
(There’s even a GDPR compliance option. Sweet.)
And speaking of the success page…
…MailerLite also enables you to customize the default message, That will replace the embedded kind and prevents users from redirecting.
Last but certainly not least, you Can check how your form displays on mobile by switching the toggle to reactive mode.
You won’t Have the Ability to make any layout changes , but it makes Sense to test, nevertheless.
So that’s an overview of this Embedded form but like I said before, you may even create popup forms in MailerLite.
While the majority of the setup Procedure is identical, there are Still a few differences I’d love to point out.
Unlike embedded forms, you can choose between a set of Templates:
While this isn’t the most Comprehensive selection, they do provide a fantastic foundation to work from and the editor is at least as simple to use for this form type.
Clicking the’E-commerce’ template requires me into a preview Before moving to the editor.
Here, you’ll notice there are a few new options under form types This time around:
Considering paid tools like Thrive Leads exist for both ribbons and slide-in forms, it is pretty impressive to see this amount of control over popup types.
And, like before, you can play with the styling options to get it Matched with your own branding.
Finally, you can Select the close Behaviour of your form under the’Settings’ tab.
The default option is that the X icon, but you can swap this out for A”No thanks” text choice, or have both.
That is really where most email Marketing platforms will render you, but MailerLite has yet another trick up its sleeve.
Reporting & Analytics
Like most tools, you’ll find a summary of your effort Data in the main dashboard.
Here you’ll see everything from campaign open and click data, Subscriber growth, automation analytics, and form signups.
Clicking into any effort will Give you special reporting for this campaign.
This is where you’ll discover a few statistics such as Unsubscribes, spam complaints, bounces, reading surroundings, email client and much more.
This should be plenty of Information for the ordinary consumer…
…but if you really want To dig into the numbers, it is possible to click into different areas of the report to get a more detailed breakdown.
You can find some real gems under These reports.
By Way of Example, the’View Mail’ tab also displays a click map, so It’s possible to see precisely how your readers interacted with your emails compared to another.
Reports for automations are also Accessible under the’Automations’ tab, even though I found these to be less insightful than effort reports.
Here’s a Fast example:
Overall, MailerLite does a Stellar job with their reporting port, and most will get the available statistics more than sufficient to meet their demands.
What is email marketing with no dashboard of automation?
For most reading this, MailerLite’s automation capabilities Could simply make or break this review.
The great news? If you have used a visual workflow builder, You’ll immediately feel at home here…
Much like the rest of MailerLite, That the automations interface is easy, clean and easy to navigate — something which certainly can not be said for each and every email advertising program.
After establishing your trigger, you can Start adding steps to your workflow.
These steps could be anything from sending an email, adding a Delay, a bubble break, or an act, such as moving a contributor or upgrading their records.
Here’s a straightforward workflow I put together, where readers Are unsubscribed when they do not open my email within seven days.
There are countless Possibilities in regards to workflow automations similar to this, and MailerLite should have no trouble with the vast majority of use cases.
Granted, it’s not quite as Feature-rich as something like ActiveCampaign since it lacks some of the conditional elements. (Split, Visit, Goal, etc.)
For Instance, there’s currently no automation for transferring Subscribers directly into another automation.
That being said, most of these actions can Nevertheless Be achieved by moving Subscribers into different groups that activate new automation workflows. It is simply much less efficient…. yet.
Another question of efficacy here is when creating new emails From the automation workflow builder.
After having an email block to The workflow, you’ll be asked to put in your subject line that then appears on the block itself.
From there, clicking the’Design email’ button will automatically fire up the Writer:
Now, you’ll be briefly Redirected to the standard campaign creation wizard, which I covered previously in the critique.
This time, however, as Soon as You’ve established your email, clicking on the ‘Done editing’ button will guide you back into the automations workflow rather than the usual sending options.
Finally, your email address will be Loaded into your automation.
A Wonderful touch here is having a thumbnail preview of your Email inside your automation block, so you can find an idea of what it contains at a glimpse.
While this process may seem like A grind on paper, it’s actually much quicker than what I’m used to with other email marketing tools — ActiveCampaign being a fantastic example.
On the other hand, if you have come over from something like ConvertKit where The editor is loaded inside the automations builder, so you will probably find that this downgrade in performance.
It’s fast enough for me, Personally, but I guess it is all relative.
Before I wrap up this section, there’s 1 type of automation You won’t find in MailerLite, also I think it’s very important to highlight.
The ability to activate an automation (or step) based on how Readers interact with the webpages on your site.
This Sort of behavioral targeting only isn’t available in MailerLite right now, so if it’s something you use or intend to use, you might want to skip this one. Yourzine
The Price of MailerLite is one of the tools largest Selling points, and let’s face it, we all love a good bargain.
For starters, they offer an infinite free plan that includes All attributes (including premium) to get up to 1,000 subscribers.
While There’s some subtle Branding in your emails using this plan, it is still an amazing alternative for those starting out.
And what about the top plans?
It turns out, at approximately half of the Price of this competition on average, MailerLite is by far among the cheapest options on the market. Additionally, if you are ready to pay annually, you are also able to get an even greater discount.
In fact, I have not been able to find anything that does the Exact Same job, cheaper.
MailerLite is among those very few email advertising tools The (very crowded) sector in the last couple of decades, which is no easy feat.
While it’s not as quickly as ConvertKit, or as feature-rich As ActiveCampaign, or as template-heavy as MailChimp, it performs exceptionally well at virtually anything you can throw at it.
Overall, I find MailerLite strikes the best balance Between flexibility, speed and simplicity, and at a price point you’ll seriously struggle to beat.
Thinking about giving it a twist? Let us know how it works for you In the remarks. Yourzine
